Windows to a Woman's Mind: Things More Important Than the BF.

Before the list begins, i have to tell you a few things.
I specifically said WOMAN, not girl. Girls' minds works differently. They are more fast, sunny and colorful. Ah, i miss being the silly girl.
This is a generic post. It is not 110% right. As soon as i am granted the money, i am doing the studies.
And every woman is different.

I thank RK for asking me to do this and i am also grateful for my gazillion close and non close gal pals for the inspiration and the observation.
(I always wanted to give a speech like this!)

So,
Things More Important Than the BF/the husband/the male entity in life.
  1. The Pride: This is what is more important than anything else. You cant bullshit a woman and remain in her good grades. Give Respect and earn it back.
  2. The family: It might sound a bit clichéd, but is true. A woman might be independent, she might occasionally cuss those who are related to her, but, remember, Blood is always thicker than water. We don't like you when you point fingers. That's our job.
  3. The Views: A woman has certain views she is adherent on. Don't try to change them. Change yourself. This is one that makes a girl different from a woman. You can mould a girl. Not a woman.
  4. The GFs: Yes, the girlfriends are important. They have been there since the start of time. And they are not going anywhere. We might not hangout like we used to, bu they are there and you better love them. And we don't love you more, we just love you different.
  5. The gadgets: This concerns the tech savvy girls. We love our gadgets. Don't try to take them away. Don't ridicule them. Don't ridicule us. We most definitely know more that you do. Anyways, we are always open for more.

And then there is shopping. :P

Agree with points 1 and 2. About point 3: If a girl thinks consuming alcohol is right, do I have to change myself and drink the ' potty of yeast' ? 4. Friends are never really important according to me. They come and go. 5. Gadget > Bf ? Oh, dear !!! Do you work in the Information Technology industry ?

On a general note, I believe that these 3 Roman ideals are more important than the bf / gf: 1. Dignitas - Dignity. Earned by the individual by his / her own actions and achievements.. 2. Autocritas - The power and standing that comes through your ancestors. A family inheritance. One should add to it and pass it on to the next generation. 3. Virtuitas - The virtues and principles that one embodies...

@ Kannan: If you start drinking coz a girl drinks, isn't it the same as making the girl stop drinking coz you don't? I don't think that's the point. The point is that if you are super conservative and think that a woman's place is in the kitchen whereas the girl wants to work and expects you to share the household responsibilities, you change your attitude or you change the girl. (Rather, I think the girl will change you! :P) Its about the principles, not habits. :)

@Carpe Diem: From where does everyone get the idea that I am super conservative and expect a girl to stay in a kitchen ? Shocking :) For some reason, everyone conveniently forgets that I studied next to the nation's most intelligent women in Aiims for 5.5 years... That little fact should alone tell everyone that I do not expect a girl to cook, when they are better suited to doing mind boggling operations :) { Just because I refuse to drink the potty of yeast, does not mean that I am super conservative. Does consuming potty of yeast = liberation ? Shocking :) } I am a wimp, but it is impossible to brain wash me :) I am a half Capricorn. Being stubborn is in my nature. I am extremely selfish. I should be good. I should not drink the potty of yeast. What can I do if other people drink it ? I will beg my children not to do it :) If they do, I will ask for Liver tests so that I can intervene if they go overboard. I do not remember asking anyone to stop their liver and cerebellar destruction.

Oh ho! By you, I don't mean, you, R. Kannan! By you, I mean a generic "one" "someone" "some guy" et al. I have read enough of your blog to know that you don't think that. ;)

@surviving brain: thats my point. you hate gadgets. so u disagree. i love my gadgets, i wont give em up for anyone who disagrees.

@RK: i did say digniy. its pride. i did add family and i also did mention the view points. i jus didnt used fancy roman words :P

@CD and RK:
Drinking alcohol is a person's prerogative. I know a friend' mom who died of cirrhosis who hasn't drank a drop of alcohol her entire life. And i know my dad, who is a drunkard (40 years of that too) getting normal LFT results. But i agree. no one should drink to appease your better half.
i said views. If a woman thinks homosexuality is normal and fights for them, dont force your view on her. if an islam woman thinks dressing conservatively is not her forte, dont push her. and vice versa. Thats a view man. Not drinking or clubbing. That is life style. Life style changes. Views don't.

Alcohol is not the only cause of cirrhosis. There are many other causes...

I would know. i am a doctor. if not an aiims-ian.
I said that on ur talk of liver test.

small town girl--

You Dont have to give up gadgets for a boyfriend, i just told i might not do it if i were you. Just that. I respect the view of another person, and I would not want my girlfriend/wife/fiancée/whatever to change any habit of hers she has been following for years just because i came into her life.

and alcohol...
:D

well.. has been my life line till now.

Ramanathan Kannan said...

Your words looked as if they were saying this - Alcohol is being blamed too much for cirrhosis ;) So had to put my foot down :) You should forgive me.

smalltown_girl said...

@SB- ohkay. good.

@RK: there is nothing to forgive. and i am mighty envious of your brain :P
