Why God Why?

Why would God make such a piece of art and then make it GAY?? Why? Why? :( :(
Why is all the Fat Couch Potatos who laze around watching TV all day eating chips and doesnt have an ounce of sense when it comes to fashion, style or sensitivity is all straight and the ones with all these turns out to be lusting after the same people that we girls lust too. :|
Well, for those who doest know, this is Preston Lee, interior designer, finalist in Top Design, amazing sense when it comes to colour contrast and accessories and, as you see, cute enough to eat.
One more pic of him before signing of..

Slumdog bashing- my take

Blah Blah Blah... For the past 2 weeks all i am hearing is about slumdog millionaire. Good Bad Praise Bash....in TV, news paper, internet and even from people..
Before starting, i watched the film and enjoyed it. Then again i do enjoy every other film. And i think that this film has too much antagonism in it but it also holds hope and love.
And every one who is singing the praises, have you even for a moment, thought of reading the bloody book? or even an excerpt of it (which i did, sadly, as the book is not available in my town and i don't trust amazon), which is enough to banish the basic idea of the movie to the most hateful corners in your mind.

Vikas Swarup's spectacular debut novel opens in a jail cell in Mumbai, India, where Ram Mohammad Thomas is being held after correctly answering all twelve questions on India's biggest quiz show, Who Will Win a Billion? It is hard to believe that a poor orphan who has never read a newspaper or gone to school could win such a contest. But through a series of exhilarating tales Ram explains to his lawyer how episodes in his life gave him the answer to each question.
Ram takes us on an amazing review of his own history -- from the day he was found as a baby in the clothes donation box of a Delhi church to his employment by a faded Bollywood star to his adventure with a security-crazed Australian army colonel to his career as an overly creative tour guide at the Taj Mahal.
Swarup's Q & A is a beguiling blend of high comedy, drama, and romance that reveals how we know what we know -- not just about trivia, but about life itself. Cutting across humanity in all its squalor and glory, Vikas Swarup presents a kaleidoscopic vision of the struggle between good and evil -- and what happens when one boy has no other choice in life but to survive.

I am not saying that my country is all beautiful, where nothing goes wrong, has no corruption etc.. Of course we have here hindu muslim riots, child labour, child prostitution, slums, rape, hero worship, gang wars, gangsters etc. But don't you thing it is too much of a coincidence that every awful thing out there is happening to this boy JAMAL? (In the Book his name was at least Ram Mohammad Thomas and he wouldn't have seen his mother being killed at 5 years of age, being an orphan.)
And SLUMDOG? What sort of word is slumdog? Ah! forget it!
How many times in a KBC episode you have seen Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan making fun of a contestant for coming from poor circumstances, and the audience laughing with them? I have never seen it. Don't you think its all a bit too dramatic? And then, we call our filmmakers Dramatic.
How do you think a child who saw his mother's murder, stole from train passengers daily, got beaten by TTR, abused by many many people, started lying and accompanied thievery in teenage to remain innocent in life? Not to covet money (2 crore at that too) and only to want the love of his life? Is he for real? Do they even expect people to swallow that?
How many times has the KBC been aired live? Forget this too. Its a MOO point when compared to the other ones which are as big as Antarctica.
Then again, during a live show, is it possible that the person the whole nation is watching is handed over to police on the grounds of suspected trickery when the show is to shoot the next day? Do they not expect him next day to look fine? Do they expect him not to talk about it once the show is over, if he wins or loses?
All these and other loop holes can be understood. It is a work of fiction and its not God who wrote it. Its a good tale with good(not great) soundtrack and immaculate technical perfection. And its as masaledar as a cheap porn film featuring cherry red lip stick wearing aunties doing it with dangly men in deserted forest.(Have seen it, quite disgusting.)
Of course when you see it as yet another movie churned to spin coins, it is acceptable. Can be called good too.(the technical side should count for something.) But when we view it as the OSCAR winner (if Oscar is count as the recognition for the ultimate excellence in cinema, which i don't, not anymore!) or as the portrait of metro india, in the eyes of the world, Jeez, gimme a break!
Is India the only country with slums? and child prostitution? and gang wars? and all the other things that happen to Jamal... No we are not. But i am not contradicting making such a film in India. We are 3rd world. These things happen here. And 50% of our people is under the poverty line(which is a very questionable line coz,in my school my BPL friends used to come in private cars after holidays while i  went in hired ambassadors).
But what i have a problem with is telling that this is INDIA'S FILM and gleefully dancing over it as our country won the bloody Oscar!! It is a BRITISH film for Pete's sake! A film which didn't even released in India with the foreign release. We can't take credit and pounce around for a film which shot in India. Then there was an Indian part for the "Curious Case of Benjamin Button" too.
We cant forget this film for getting an Oscars for our talented Mr. Rehman and Pookutty. And that is the only ehsaan they have on us. And we let them shoot a film here, not minding the consequences it will bring to the tourism industry and the defaming that will do us, and it got them an Oscar too. That is our EHSAAN on the british!!

And the Oscar goes to...

So, the much awaited academy awards is over. Happy with the results? Almost. Slept at 1.30 dutifully to wake up early, almost slept through it, thanks to RB, who saved the day and woke me up!

1. Heath Ledger winning the Best supporting actor was the Most Brilliant Moment in the whole day. Brought tears to my eyes.

2.Hugh Jackman was AWESOME!! Who knew the broodingly sexy wolverine could dance and joke around and still OOZE charm.

3.Everyone looked so stunning. Can't name a few best. Everyone was awesome.. As my fashion sense is not the best and i have skipped the red carpet, i need to check 'best and worst dressed' lists..

4.Indian music reaching global stage is what i like the best about 'slumdog'. The performance by AR was awesome but not the best. The Wall-E song was not even heard :D

5.Sean Penn deserved the award for Milk. I was So relieved.

6.I wanted milk to win Best Film. How ever passionate the Slumdog story is, its nothing better than a bollywood romance albeit technical perfection. I would say Hollywood people are just not used to 'our kinda' romance ;) [Di was saying that if they liked slumdog for the passionate love, Quayamat se quayamat tak would have swept oscars without doubt. She is mad.]

7.Best speeches came from Dustin Lance Black, Rezul Pookutty and Kate Winslet. (my opinion) About Rezul's speech- Ah.. how many people would go up there and thank their teachers?? only Indians can do that!

8.What ever it is, India was in centre stage, eventhough i was a british movie, for which, Danny Boyle should be thanked.

9. Rehman pretty much fucked up his speech. What can we say, he communicates better with music. And about his 1st joke of being excited and nervous as he was at his wedding, he was saying that in LA in front of people who get married at the drop of a hat and divorce even before having the wedding dinner. Bad Placement. :| How ever his speech went, you can not be more proud of him. I still think Roja, Bombay and even Delhi 6 was better than Jai Ho! O saya should have won it!

11. What a bunch of idiots our media people are? They realises Gulzar won an award hours later. Sadly even Gulzar was late in knowing that i think.

12.Oscar with RB was awesome. And later Oscar review with Di was the best. I am so glad I've friends who are intelligent, politically incorrect and has good taste.

Career Orientation or Contemplation (Sounds Real Boring I Guess)

I was not selected in the last interview i went to. It was a good job, with minimum work, good payment and a lot of free time... Yet i was the happiest when it did not happen. Mom don't know i am happy, RB is quite disappointed with me, Dad, as usual don't care, Aqui was looking forward to the pocket money, so he is not happy, Di was quite amused. (This is why i say of all the people in my life, she is the only one who gets me. Even though am not that deep.)
This job, is what i am sure i would be doing for the rest of my life, if i lived to retirement age (which i am not sure of). Its the kind of job were you have less fun, more responsibility, were you have to order around, no co workers, just assistants, you being the in-charge. I like being in charge, but not of aging adamant people. And responsibility is not my favourite trip. :|

But i am willing to do all these, i would have to, it is the sure shot way to live a stable life, so i will do it. All i am saying is, NOT NOW! At this point of life, i am more inclined to some fun, exercising my humanitarian nature, work with people who needs me, and a job where i can do satisfying heavy work all week and go out and have fun in weekends.

So a list of potential jobs i coveted through out my life and still want to do. I will never do these, even though i am pretty good at some of these.

1. Event Manager- Almost convinced mom to let me try this. Then again, with a merit medicine seat, who will go for event managing. Now i wish i had pursued that. :|

2. Forensic Medicine- Long story. Short version, i faint at the smell of blood and later have weird scary dreams :|

3.Criminal Detective- Not police. something like CSI. And an expert too. Actually this is the favourite.

4.Freelance Journalist- Nothing much tempting. but i liked that freedom.

5.Restaurant Manager- Will suite me tremendously.

6.Classical Dancer- 4 years of coaching, and nothing came of it. Not that i was too bad, but situations were not favourable, esp the boarding school i went to, which i hate with a vengeance.

7.Sales Girl in a HUGE bookstall- Dream job when i was in school. Understandable, when you love to read and don't have enough pocket money to buy fancy books on shelves.

8.Makeup Artist- Still very much aspiring for this one. Trust me, am not bad.

9.Dog Groomer- I love dogs. :)

10.Archies/Hallmark card wordings writer- Is that a job even? I was good at that too. Years of Self made card distribution and smiling friends are a testimony.

This talk is way depressing than i imagined. :(
Why i didn't pursue my dreams?
I hate the middle class complex which made me do something which promised a steady income than excitement.
Still, am pretty OK with my job. Where i get to meet people and have a chance be kind, funny and smart. Its worth it. Almost.

Life Happening in Between Meaningless Posts.

1. Rock is sick. By the way, rock is my dog. The very best GSD ever.

2.I start to understand that i repel suitors. With effort. Seems i need a therapist to work on these issues.

3. Rude Boy is busy this week. So i am free and regretting it. I started trusting him. Not the trust were you give-away-phone-number-to-strangers trust, but the trust were you start to think that this guy means what he says and he would never deceive or lie to me sort of trust. And God, what a relief is to trust the ones you hold dear!! (I am a bit of psycho. I love a lot of people and trust 3 or 4, the maximum).

4.Why people use peel-offs? I usually never use those, and the one i recently bought makes my face feel blistered and hot after the peeling. The whole time Dad stares at me ooh-aah-ing and cursing. Probably thinking that finally his girl has gone masochist.

5.When you make a habit of staying up till 4 in the morning, its actually tough to reverse the clock and sleep at 11. Pox on you RB!

6.The last Sunday, i had to attend an engagement and a seminar. Why would i miss it? Because till 5 O'clock in evening, i believed it was actually Saturday :|

7.Why i would feel all jealous and resentment towards my life when others go to foreign countries and then reject an offer to go out on less than palatable grounds? Am i scared or silly homebody?

8.Prianka Chopra going out with Gerard Butler??? X-( i started liking her recently.

9.Isn't splitsvilla couple Vishal and Shradha's new show in MTV ridiculous? i liked those two. But the show sucks. :|

10.Even though i am happy about my friends reading my blogs (and shame on those who never add comments) sometimes i feel that i would have liked this anonymous.

11. If had anymore time and a good Internet connection(airtel should be shot dead!) i would start a book review blog. Not to develop my book review skills, but to remember those i have read and those i haven't.

11 is an odd number. But nothing more to say.
Carry on Jaani..

Personality test.. And am done!!

Your result for The Ultra Ultimate Personality Test...

The Performer

You scored 76 Extroversion, 48 Intuition, 76 Emotional, and 78 Spontaneity!

ESFP

The ESFP is warm, outgoing, optimistic and caring--a cheerful person who's always ready for a good time and avoids the company of dreary "doom and gloom" people who take themselves too seriously. Count on ESFPs to settle in occupations which let them be "people people"--working in sales, human services, business, nursing, crisis intervention or the performing arts. They are naturally gifted at observing human behavior and figuring out what others want. Whatever the ESFP's work choice, talking must be part of the job! To be at their best, ESFPs need to be around other people--and this type will go to great lengths to avoid solitude and isolation. ESFPs believe that life, work and relationships should be fun and rewarding. ESFPs are unlikely to stick around when clouds darken the skies for too long at a stretch. Charming, clever and open-minded, the witty ESFP is likely to be seen by others as a party person--so much so that this type may be ill-at-ease in business fields which expect seriousness, formality, logic, conceptual thinking, organization and punctuality.

Relationships

ESFPs are fun and delightful to be with. They live for the moment, and know how to make the most of each moment. They are genuinely, warmly interested in people, and love to make others happy. They're usually very kind-hearted and generous, and are always going out of their way to do something nice for someone. Their affection is simple, straight-forward and honest. They dislike theory and complexities. They often resist forming relationships which require them to function on a high Intuitive or Thinking level. They prefer for things to be light and happy, although their warmth and affection runs deep. Their potential downfall is the tendency to live entirely for the present moment, and therefore to sometimes be unaware of the direction that their relationship is heading, or to be easily distracted from long-term commitments.

Strengths

Enthusiastic and fun-loving, they make everything enjoyable

Clever, witty, direct, and popular, people are drawn towards them

Earthy and sensual

Down to earth and practical, able to take care of daily needs

Artistic and creative, they're likely to have attractive homes

Flexible and diverse, they "go with the flow" extremely well

They can leave bad relationships, although it's not easy

Try to make the most of every moment

Generous and warm-hearted

Some Thoughts On LOVE...

Valentines Day is a day designed to torment me. Period. Well, not just me, also the other single souls wandering on the face of planet. At least i am calm (may be a bit depressed) about singleton on one more valentine's day. Look at all these "Hate-Sena" people in big towns. They don't have anyone to love(or anyone loving them, for that matter), they have passed the stage depression and have started aggression. Poor Things. Someone please love those sad lost souls. :|
What ever my state of affairs is, i want love for everyone. And i am really happy that nearly all of my friends found success in love, including A.

Some insights on love. With real life examples.

1. Love is not about gifts or dinner dates or even valentine's day. If it was, Di and Ray would be the most UNROMANCING couple of the century. I don't think they even remembers each other's birthday. But they are the most LOVING couple ever. The ones that make us believe in love.

2.Love is also about the gifts and flowers and valentine's day. Sony was in the most boring romance ever amongst my friends. I don't think they even held hands before marriage, not even once, even though they were a couple for about 2 years before the wedding. Now they are the ones shares gifts and all and its so sweet.

3. Love can be found after marriage. Srut wouldn't have had a love life to save her life. She is cute, very sweet but never had the bollocks to Date. She would have had a heart attack if any boy came up and asked her out. So it was an arranged marriage. To this serious, hot tempered, possessive, and hot guy, who I and Sony hated at first. But i would say that is one good solid marriage now, with a lot of love and a very much changed-for-the-better Srut

4.Unresponsive love destroys friendships. RB had this wonderful friendship with this girl who later rejected him because of her old issues. RB is the saddest ever.

5.Sometimes you give so much stress on friendship in relations and there is not much space left for love.

6. Love destroys the faith to love again sometimes. And we would never know whom to blame.

7.Sometimes people destroy themselves in love. Take up idiotic habits. Quite like Devdas. For love. For the Loss of love. And its the hardest to watch.

8.Sometimes people live under a roof for 28 years and sire 3 children and never understand each other. How it is possible is a mystery. Dad still cant get Mom's jokes and Mom will never get Dad's behaviour.

9.Love never happens as 'Gratitude' or 'Pity'. They are two different emotions. Very strong. But in quite another plane.

10.Love exists in all relations. Including the one with your doggie.

I love every one of the aforementioned people. Fiercely.
And i love being single. Its not a complete lie.

So, LOVE FOR ALL!!
CHEERS!!

Absolute Morose Post Ahead...Beware!

Things go absolutely wrong at the best of times. The moments in which you start to think your life is actually perfect. Even though it lacks elements that are imminent in society's eyes for it to be perfect, you like the way it is, and is afraid of all those perfecting things which can come in and ruin this for you.
When you are absolute sure of the extend of damage, you can get on with life. Do damage control, come to peace with it, cry over your loss, get mad..
But it is another thing when you are in uncertainties. When you are not sure that this person who has grown into such a huge part of your life is alright or not. Your mind screams at you all the possible things that could have gone wrong. You imagine the worst. Your stomach is in knots. You are afraid of looking at people's faces fearing that they will see the raw fear etched on your face. You sit and mull over the things that happened the whole day. You go over again and again through texts and scraps even though nothing happened worth remembering. You wonder over the emotions. Did you part in an angry note? Is he doing this to get back at you? Did he said anything about being too busy to pick up or cancel calls? You think yourself into sickness.
You do mundane things to calm yourself. To distract your mind. Still this weight on your heart distracts you. You take a bathe to calm your head. You stand under the shower for so long that you don't know if your eyes are blood shot because of the prolonged shower or tears.
You think of insults to reign on him when he finally calls or picks up his phone. You make up sentences that shows your glee. At the same time, fear lingers in your heart that you may not use these words ever. Or see his grin again.
You cant complete the novel you started earlier. You don't want to get lost in TV or other distractions. You refuse to look through the window and see playing children. You don't want do anything but worry.
You think back on time and wonders if he knows how much he means to you. How much you will miss every smiley of his. The Grin, the tongue, loser, rolling with laughter, drooling and especially the angry and sad ones which are your favourites. How much you will long for the tit for tat texts you send back and forth.
You think of blogging and to lighten your mind you start working on your blog.

Near the end, after 6 hours, 16 missed calls and countless texts, you get a text back that says "today my team leader took my mobile.. :| i got it back just now.. What a bad day.. :( i am all rite.."

:D :D :D

PS: This is an actual incident. All characters are alive. Thank God!
And this will be my first post in 3rd person.

2 Birthdays

See I have 2 birthdays a year. Its a mallu thing(i don't know if other parts of India follow it or not.) So one of these is my Roman calender Birthday, which is on January 25(Its the best month of an year, as i told earlier). the other one is in mallu zodiac calender..which, this year was in Feb 6.
The two birthdays had very little in comparison.
the first- January 25th
The day, as it appears in orkut, is well known as my birthday among friends. I spent the wee hours in morning, from 11 to almost 3, with RudeBoy in Yahoo.. He wished me endlessly. (throughout the day..) Sony, srut,anu...everyone wished.. there was a cake, a pretty good lunch, everyone at home even though my brother forgot the present in his hostel. times with RB, orkut friends all wishing....even though i was not enthusiastic about turning 26(yeah, over the hill..am an OLD spinster now :( . if it was upto me, i would freeze my age at 23 or 24 permanently.).

the second one- February 6th
This, as it is related with mallu zodiacs, demand temple visits, no non-veg whole day and generally to be the good girl. So the day started with mom dragging me to temple at the break of dawn and with my luck, the temple was crowded..big time. i had to stand in a line for about 4 hours to get darshan. without food.. after which mom n me decides to have food.. Now, the only thing jeopardising it would be the most unlikeliest case of we forgetting the money at home. And what you think? Yes!! I had to fast for the day, which mom says, is good omen. Not for me! Food is my Good omen!! Thus the day saw me mad, sad, distraught, tired and hungry.

The only similarity was that, my best friend forgot to wish me both of these days.. No worries we are like that.. I called her to get my birthday kisses on both days. She would remind me that i too forgot hers.. Sheesh.. We are SOME friends :D

When you have a lot of time and apparently nothing to do, you THINK...

And ofcourse, when I say thinking, I dont mean useful or huge things, I mean silly things. And a lot of silly things.

1. Why i cant find a good man? Either a lot of men are gay, or there is a lot of girls in the world.

2. 'Ghajini' is a lift out of 'Finding nemo'. See both have a central character with Short term memory loss, and he is only remembering one person. Incidentaly i also think Dory has a huge crush on Marlin. Now, all these doesnt make much sense right? :P

3.After Dostana, why is it so tough to think that Abhishek Bachchan is actually straight! Either he is a damn good actor or the Bachchan bahu is living a marriage of convenience. I hope for the best. ;)

4.Your dog jumping around happily when you comes home doesnt necessarily mean you are a good person. Rocky, my dog, likes my dad, though the least.

5.When every other species is born with tactics to attract opposite sex, isn't it pathetic that not all humans knows how to flirt. For eg, Me. :) And i do friendship very nicely. Flirting, i cant. But isn't that a survival skill? God is so unfair at times..

Thats it.. i dun remember much.. let me think.. :P
